The three charities presenting during this event are:
Canopy Center
Canopy Center’s mission is to help strengthen families and support children, teens, and adults impacted by trauma and adversity. It serves over 500 people annually through three programs: Oasis child sexual abuse treatment program which provides therapy services to child/teen victims, their families, and adult survivors; Dane County Court Appointed Special Advocates which provides trained volunteers to work with children under the protection of the courts and report to the court on behalf of the child’s safety, permanence and well-being; and Parent to Child supervised visitation services for children in the foster care system.
Hope & A Future
Hope & A Future is taking a fresh look at the needs and strengths of the two fastest growing segments of our population: seniors and young at-risk families. Hope & A Future is developing a new care model based on strengthening the generations by bringing them together in a Therapeutic, Interactive, INtergenerational Neighborhood (TIIN). The setting will include housing for healthy and frail seniors of mixed income level and affordable rental housing for young families interested in mentoring and support. It will include both indoor and outdoor community spaces where healthy, intergenerational relationships can be established around shared activities and interests.
Rylan’s Hope Foundation
Rylan’s Hope Foundation raises funds for families that have children with disabilities up to age 18 in the state of Wisconsin, in order to cover needed therapies, equipment and other disability-related expenses that insurance won’t cover. Their foundation was founded honoring Rylan Schmidt, a seven year old boy whose life was taken too soon. As a parent of a special needs child the organization’s founder has seen all the gaps in the system and their foundation aims to fill those gaps and make things easier for families. Their vision is that all families should be able to provide needed services for their child with disabilities, regardless of financial ability.
