It serves over 500 people annually through three programs: Oasis child sexual abuse treatment program which provides therapy services to child/teen victims, their families, and adult survivors; Dane County Court Appointed Special Advocates which provides trained volunteers to work with children under the protection of the courts and report to the court on behalf of the child’s safety, permanence and well-being; and Parent to Child supervised visitation services for children in the foster care system. www.canopycenter.org
Hope & A Future
Hope & A Future is taking a fresh look at the needs and strengths of the two fastest growing segments of our population: seniors and young at-risk families. Hope & A Future is developing a new care model based on strengthening the generations by bringing them together in a Therapeutic, Interactive, INtergenerational Neighborhood (TIIN). The setting will include housing for healthy and frail seniors of mixed income level and affordable rental housing for young families interested in mentoring and support. It will include both indoor and outdoor community spaces where healthy, intergenerational relationships can be established around shared activities and interests. www.hopeandafutureinc.org
National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI)
NAMI Dane County is the founding chapter of the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the millions of Americans affected by mental illness. What started as a small group of families gathered around a kitchen table in Madison, Wisconsin in 1977 has blossomed into the nation’s leading voice on mental illness. NAMI is the only organization in our community that works to raise awareness and provide support and education that was not previously available to those in need. In 2016, NAMI provided no-cost resources, information and support to more than 2,700 people affected by mental illness. www.namidanecounty.org
